Natural Cleansing for your Skin – A Konjac Activated Charcoal Facial Sponge Review

I have a been a long time Clarisonic user. But I am always on the lookout for other natural skin cleansing options. For months I had been seeing listings for the Konjac facial sponge but was hesitant to try it. Mostly because I was afraid that it would either be too rough on my already sensitive skin.

It seemed like no matter what I did, my skin was ever changing. Red, irritated, borderline raw areas of skin, particularly around my nose. Painful acne-like bumps, which would appear out of nowhere, with no relation to what I ate or drank.

After all the chemicals I had been exposed to in my Cancer treatments, I liked the fact that this facial sponge was 100% natural, and free of chemicals, colors and preservatives. The Konjac facial sponge was also good for all skin types, so after months of debating, I figured I had nothing to lose. So I decided to give the Konjac sponge activated charcoal facial sponge a try.

When this facial sponge first arrived at my home, I had mixed feelings and was almost borderline intimidated by it. In its natural state, the facial sponge for this Konjac sponge review is quite hard. Leading you to wonder who first thought it would be a good idea to use this item on their skin.

Trying to remain neutral in my opinion, I read the instructions on the back of the box the facial sponge came in. It stated that the sponge works to balance facial PH levels, and helps keep the weak alkalinity status of the human body. Also like other cleaners, this sponge was designed to be gentle, without the need for additional cleansers.

In order to use the Konjac sponge activated charcoal facial sponge, I needed to first soak the sponge in warm water for approximately 10 seconds. This allowed enough moisture into the facial sponge to make it soft enough that you would actually want to use it on your skin.

Having never used a product like this before, I was unsure what to expect. I used the Konjac facial sponge religiously for approximately two weeks. The average lifespan of the Konjac facial sponge before you need to replace it.

It took me awhile to finally get around to writing my Konjac sponge review because my experience with this product was pretty much neutral. If you have read my other product reviews, you know that I am brutally honest when it comes to my feelings about the products I use. Which made writing this review all that more difficult.

After two weeks of twice a day use, I honestly saw no change at all in my skin. Sure my skin problems did not get any worse, but I did not see a drastic improvement either. Combine that with the fact that you need to replace this sponge every 2-3 weeks, and at $3.99 a sponge, you’re suddenly spending about $67 a year for a product that didn’t deliver noticeable results.

While I am happy that I gave the Konjac facial sponge a try, I am torn as to whether or not to recommend this product for others to try. If you happen to find it on sale, by all means, try it out. Just because it didn’t work for me, does not mean it won’t work for you. I personally will stick with my Clarisonic and Rejuvity Cleanser from now on, but welcome your feedback in the comments below.

A Functional Yet Eye Catching Bathroom Scale – A DakotaWayd Bluetooth Bathroom Scale Review

No matter what your age, you probably have memories of the bathroom scale that took up residence in your parents or grandparents bathroom. These scales were designed to serve one purpose, to provide you with a means to check your weight, which was critical to ensuring you maintained a healthy body weight. More detailed metrics like body fat percentage, BMI, bone mass, muscle mass and even body water were things that once could only be measured in the doctor’s office.

Since technology has made so many leaps and bounds since the introduction of the spring scale in the 1700s, bathroom scales now have the ability to provide users with all sorts of health-related data, all from the comfort of your own home.  Metrics that were once only tracked by athletes and the uber health conscious, can now be tracked by anyone.

Many years ago, my husband and I purchased a bathroom scale from a local retail store. While this model was able to track your weight and BMI, the data was stored within the scale, so it was very difficult to visually track trends. The scale also required the creation of a user profile, based on height and age,  but I found that once the information was in the scale, it was next to impossible to change. I had been keeping my eye out for a replacement, but it seemed like all the high tech Bluetooth bathroom scales cost much more than I was willing to spend.

Then one day, on one of my countless visits to Amazon, I happened upon this Bluetooth bathroom scale from DakotaWayd. On the first impression, I liked the look of this body fat bathroom scale, and since I was embarking on a journey to lose weight, I liked the idea of a bathroom scale that would sync the recorded data with my Smartphone for easy tracking. So I placed my order and waited for this digital bathroom scale to arrive in the mail.

My first impression of this Bluetooth bathroom scale was it looked as good, if not better than the photo I had seen on Amazon. It had a nice tempered glass top, making it easy to keep clean. Our old bathroom scale used buttons to track users, but the Bluetooth connectivity of this device eliminates the need for buttons. It can track up to ten different users with the assistance of the New iWellness app, where our old scale could only track four.

After unboxing the bathroom scale, I downloaded the New iWellness app and gave the scale a try. You must be barefoot in order for the scale to work correctly. It is important to note that this scale utilizes BIA or Bioelectric Impedance Analysis to precisely measure your weight, body fat, muscle rate, water, bone mass, visceral fat, BMR, and BMI.  If you happen to have a pacemaker or any other medical device, it is important to check with your doctor before using this scale.

With the help of the New iWellness app, you can easily see where you stand. The screenshots at the right were live screen captures of my current stats. With a quick glance, you can see what your weight is, as well as the seven other metrics that the bathroom scale tracks.

In order to see further detail about a specific data point, you just need to click on the arrow at the right, and that will bring up a color-coded graph which shows you where you stand.

As a bonus, the data from this bathroom scale also syncs with Apple Health or Google Fit. As you can see in the photo at the right, the Apple Heath app interprets the data points a little bit differently than the iWellness app, which gives you even more data points for accurately tracking your health.

There is one important thing to note when it comes to using this scale. In order for the app to update with fresh data each time you step on the scale, you need to have the phone in the vicinity of the bathroom scale and the app open, otherwise the Bluetooth bathroom scale doesn’t know where to send the data to. But on the plus side, this allows you to still use the scale for a quick weight check. This is quite handy in our house as we commonly use our bathroom scale to check the weight of our furry family members.

Overall I am very happy with this Bluetooth bathroom scale from DakotaWayd. While I knew I had put on a fair amount of weight, this bathroom scale keeps me accountable and aware of what is going on with my body. It has almost become like a game for me to get the numbers on the app to go down so certain metrics are in the healthy zones. It has also pushed me to try to drink more water throughout the day as I never was truly aware that my intake was not up to par.

So if you are looking for a new bathroom scale, then look no further than the Bluetooth bathroom scale from DakotaWayd. With the ability to monitor 10 users, tracking for eight different health metrics, and Smartphone connectivity, you may just find yourself wondering how you lived your life without this accurate bathroom scale in your home.

Flavored Coffee That Doesn’t Make Me Sick – A Via Bom Dia Coffee Review

Via Bom Dia Coffee When I tried the Via Bom Dia Coffee in May 2016, I was following a Gluten Free diet. I had been experiencing a plethora of symptoms. Brain fog, joint paint, digestive distress, and migraines, just to name a few. Since all the side effects associated with gluten ingestion were more than I could bear, I did my best to avoid gluten at all costs. This was, of course, easier said than done.

I love coffee, with the Chocolate Glazed Donut by the Donut House being one of my all time favorites. For years, I could consume flavored coffee without any issues. But once I went gluten free, I never expected I would have to say goodby to flavored coffee as well.

Knowing that gluten can be listed under a variety of psuedonyms, I tried to locate ingredient lists online for my favorite brands. Needless to say, this was an exercise in frustration, as every brand I looked at stated the type of beans and “natural flavoring.” For those who may not be aware, natural flavoring is a catch all for a variety of ingredients, and is a common carrier for those containing gluten. While I did not like the idea of having to give up on one of my favorite indulgences. I didn’t want to intentionally drink something that I knew would make me feel sick.

Then one day, I came across the Via Bom Dia coffee on Amazon. While the listing stated that the flavored coffee in these K-cups used only natural ingredients, I couldn’t help but be a bit skeptical. While I was a bit hesitatant at first, but I knew I was probably not the only person experiencing side effects with flavored coffee. So I placed my order.

Back when I ordered this Via Bom Dia coffee, the manufacturer only offered them in an 18 pack, at the cost of about $15.99. Having not ordered the Dark Chocolate Cacao Via Bom Dia Coffee since 2016, they no longer offer a 15 pack, instead it is a traditional 12 pack for the Dark Chocolate. The price currently varies from $9.99 to $14.99, depending on the flavor you select. They are certified organic, and use 100% real spices in all their coffees, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the cost may be a bit higer than brands commonly found at your local grocery store.

Via Bom Dia Coffee K-Cups

When the Via Bom Dia coffee arrived at my home, it was pretty much as expected. There was some minor wear to the edges of the Via Bom Dia coffee box. Although it only took two days to arrive, courtsey of Amazon Prime shipping. There was no visible damange to any of the K-Cups, so a slightly worn box was of no concern to me.

Everything I read online about this Via Bom Dia coffee led me to belive they would be safe. Yet, I couldn’t help but still be skeptical about trying it. When you eat things that you “thought” were safe, and still get sick. You can’t help but be a bit gun-shy about trying new things. No matter how detailed the ingredients list may be, you can never be 100% sure of what they contain.

Not knowing for sure how this Via Bom Dia coffee would effect me, I decided to try it over the weekend. If I did in fact get sick from drinking it, I at least could suffer in the comfort of my own home, instead of at work for 8 hours.

I made myself a cup, added almond milk, and took a sip. Right away I loved the taste of Via Bom Dia coffee. It had a nice subtle chocolate flavor, and the coffee itself was nice and smooth for a medium roast coffee.

Then it was time for the true test. Would I have a reaction to the natural flavorings used in this Via Bom Dia coffee. For me, reactions are normally not immediate. Instead it is something that occurs ususally a few hours after the offending food was ingested. To my surprise, this flavored coffee did not make me feel ill. Which was a first.Between my husband and I, we finshed off the entire k-cup box, with not one complaint.

Overall, we are very happy with the Dark Chocolate Cacao Via Bom Dia coffee discussed in this flavored coffee review. The coffee had a nice flavor, and the ingredients really are organic, which I love. But the best part is it’s a flavored coffee that didn’t make me sick. This is a definite win in my book. I definitely will not hesitate to purchase this brand again in the future.
