No matter what your age, you probably have memories of the bathroom scale that took up residence in your parents or grandparents bathroom. These scales were designed to serve one purpose, to provide you with a means to check your weight, which was critical to ensuring you maintained a healthy body weight. More detailed metrics like body fat percentage, BMI, bone mass, muscle mass and even body water were things that once could only be measured in the doctor’s office.
Since technology has made so many leaps and bounds since the introduction of the spring scale in the 1700s, bathroom scales now have the ability to provide users with all sorts of health-related data, all from the comfort of your own home. Metrics that were once only tracked by athletes and the uber health conscious, can now be tracked by anyone.
Many years ago, my husband and I purchased a bathroom scale from a local retail store. While this model was able to track your weight and BMI, the data was stored within the scale, so it was very difficult to visually track trends. The scale also required the creation of a user profile, based on height and age, but I found that once the information was in the scale, it was next to impossible to change. I had been keeping my eye out for a replacement, but it seemed like all the high tech Bluetooth bathroom scales cost much more than I was willing to spend.
Then one day, on one of my countless visits to Amazon, I happened upon this Bluetooth bathroom scale from DakotaWayd. On the first impression, I liked the look of this body fat bathroom scale, and since I was embarking on a journey to lose weight, I liked the idea of a bathroom scale that would sync the recorded data with my Smartphone for easy tracking. So I placed my order and waited for this digital bathroom scale to arrive in the mail.
My first impression of this Bluetooth bathroom scale was it looked as good, if not better than the photo I had seen on Amazon. It had a nice tempered glass top, making it easy to keep clean. Our old bathroom scale used buttons to track users, but the Bluetooth connectivity of this device eliminates the need for buttons. It can track up to ten different users with the assistance of the New iWellness app, where our old scale could only track four.
After unboxing the bathroom scale, I downloaded the New iWellness app and gave the scale a try. You must be barefoot in order for the scale to work correctly. It is important to note that this scale utilizes BIA or Bioelectric Impedance Analysis to precisely measure your weight, body fat, muscle rate, water, bone mass, visceral fat, BMR, and BMI. If you happen to have a pacemaker or any other medical device, it is important to check with your doctor before using this scale.
With the help of the New iWellness app, you can easily see where you stand. The screenshots at the right were live screen captures of my current stats. With a quick glance, you can see what your weight is, as well as the seven other metrics that the bathroom scale tracks.
In order to see further detail about a specific data point, you just need to click on the arrow at the right, and that will bring up a color-coded graph which shows you where you stand.
As a bonus, the data from this bathroom scale also syncs with Apple Health or Google Fit. As you can see in the photo at the right, the Apple Heath app interprets the data points a little bit differently than the iWellness app, which gives you even more data points for accurately tracking your health.
There is one important thing to note when it comes to using this scale. In order for the app to update with fresh data each time you step on the scale, you need to have the phone in the vicinity of the bathroom scale and the app open, otherwise the Bluetooth bathroom scale doesn’t know where to send the data to. But on the plus side, this allows you to still use the scale for a quick weight check. This is quite handy in our house as we commonly use our bathroom scale to check the weight of our furry family members.
Overall I am very happy with this Bluetooth bathroom scale from DakotaWayd. While I knew I had put on a fair amount of weight, this bathroom scale keeps me accountable and aware of what is going on with my body. It has almost become like a game for me to get the numbers on the app to go down so certain metrics are in the healthy zones. It has also pushed me to try to drink more water throughout the day as I never was truly aware that my intake was not up to par.
So if you are looking for a new bathroom scale, then look no further than the Bluetooth bathroom scale from DakotaWayd. With the ability to monitor 10 users, tracking for eight different health metrics, and Smartphone connectivity, you may just find yourself wondering how you lived your life without this accurate bathroom scale in your home.
